After-LIFE: Applying LIFE Securdomino Knowledge Base to Port Environment
The knowledge and experience gained through the LIFE Securdomino project continue to be explored and applied beyond the end of the project through After-LIFE activities. From 14 to 19 June 2026, the 36th European Safety and Reliability Conference (ESREL 2026) took place in Braga, Portugal, bringing together researchers and professionals to exchange knowledge and discuss advances in safety, reliability and risk assessment.
At the conference, the paper “Safety and Security Risk Assessment of Dangerous Goods Carriers Approaching Port Areas” authored by Gabriele Landucci, Valeria Casson Moreno, Dino Dentone and Michela Guarguaglini, was presented. The work builds on the knowledge and experience gained through LIFE Securdomino, exploring how the principles and methodologies developed for fixed industrial installations can be adapted to the port environment, with particular reference to safety and security risks associated with carriers transporting dangerous goods approaching port areas.
This After-LIFE activity demonstrates the potential to transfer the knowledge developed during the project to new operational contexts, extending its application beyond the original scope. It also contributes to the dissemination of the project’s results within the international scientific community and promotes the broader use of innovative risk assessment approaches and tools for the protection of people, assets and the environment.
